Wildcat Football Preview

Purple chrome alternate helmets
This years football squad is hungry and ready to redeem themselves and be back atop the district standings. After a disappointing and injury filled 2014-2015 season the Wildcats are ready to strap back up and hopefully put themselves back into the playoffs.
Last season the Wildcats faced adversity with many injuries, most notable to the three quarterbacks on the squad. Combine that with a jump into class 4A and the season turned out to be a regrouping year. They finished the season with a 4-6 overall record and 2-3 in district play, just missing out on the playoffs.
This year will be totally different.
The Wildcats will have the same schedule as last year, facing Sunnyvale, Ft. Worth Trimble Tech, Bridgeport, Lake Worth, and Mineral Wells before district begins. In District 4-4A play the Wildcats will have some strong competition in Ferris, Dallas Madison, Dallas Lincoln, Dallas Roosevelt, and Venus. The Cat's return seven offensive and eight defensive players from last years squad including newly committed (verbally) senior OL Blake Hickey. Hickey, who committed to Kansas State earlier in the week, will be leading the Wildcats in the trenches for his final season in purple and yellow. The return of the three injured quarterbacks will also help the Wildcats on both sides of the ball this year.
The Wildcats are out for redemption in style this year. They will be wearing their new purple chrome alternate helmets pictured above. A great season is expected from Godley, with expectations as high as ever!
The Wildcats season begins with scrimmages against Maypearl (at Maypearl, Aug. 14) and Gainesville (in Godley, Aug. 20). The season and home opener is against Sunnyvale August 28th 7:30 P.M. at Wildcat Stadium.
